TC-L4 Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Focus of Course
- For students who have Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and wish to continue their training. On completion of the Diploma course students will be equipped to provide a therapeutic counselling service within a counselling agency.
Entry Requirements
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies or equivalent

- 420 guided learning hours over 2 years
Course Topics
Person Centred Therapy, Attachment Theory, Spirituality, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy, Creative Therapy, Mental Health Issues, Trauma and Abuse, Self-Harm and Suicide, Counsellor Self-Care, Body Work, Neuroscience, Sexuality, Integration, Emerging therapies. Further topics are covered through the Research Workshops in terms 4 and 5.
The therapeutic relationship, nature of supervision, issues arising from clinical practice, case work, the dynamics of cross-cultural counselling and couples counselling.

- Essay on delivering your presentation

- CPCAB exam
- 100 hours logged counselling practice, with supervision
- 40 hours personal therapy
Course fee
- £5995 payable as initial deposit and 20 monthly payments
Course Accreditation
- Accredited by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) and carries 120 units at Level 4 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Training Standards Director Susie Donaldson originally qualified and worked as a Dietitian, specialising in supporting patients with chronic debilitating conditions. She became Director of the Suffolk-wide Dietetic Service, before leaving to raise her two sons and re-train as a counsellor.
Maureen is currently Medical Lead for Personal and Organisational Development in Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Consultant Psychiatrist, Kisiizi, Bwindi and Kagando Church of Uganda Hospitals, south-west Uganda.
Andy is a chartered engineer and works as a Customer Solutions Manager in an Aerospace company. He and Hazel live in Hemel Hempstead and have two grown-up children.
Hazel has a degree in Biochemistry and worked in immunology research before being a full time mum. She has a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and in Supervision, and a L5 Certificate in Creative Counselling.
Business Director Ken Donaldson trained as a Chartered Secretary and has business experience in finance, admin, buying and customer service in the retail, printing, aviation and housing sectors. He worked for 3 years in Kenya for Mission Aviation Fellowship and was also in church leadership for 7 years.
